Bible Study Time | What Do You Need

Oh, how I love to see my mind changing! Before I was surrounded by Bibles, journals, highlighters, videos, and soooo much information that left me feeling overwhelmed. Though it was great to be apart of a community and world that had a lot of information, I felt myself unsure of what information to take in.

Now, I have found the perfect way to grow my faith, and know that it's okay to grow without doing it on anyone else's time, but mine.

That’s why I’m just as eager to update you on my all-time favorite Bible study supplies.

These aren’t just any supplies to me; tI have tried every single one, and intend on trying more as my love and passion grows.

So, whether you're a digital devotee or a lover of the tangible, I hope you'll find as much joy and value in these recommendations as I have.

Just below, you'll find individual links to each of the products mentioned.

  1. My Study Bible Notebook- This may or may not seem obvious but having the right type of Bible Study can save you precious time. Read this post to help you Choose A Bible Study.

  2. KJV Journal The World Bible- This is my all time favorite Bible, though it can be tough to understand if you are just starting out. If you appreciate a bit of extra space and legibility, the KJV Journal The World Bible is perfect. The margins are generously wide, inviting you to jot down insights, prayers, and reflections. The large print ensures that you’re not squinting to read the scripture, making it a comfortable and accessible option for extended study sessions. Other Bible Versions – are useful for comparison but not vital. Again this post will help you decide what you need

  3. The Good and Beautiful Bible Study- I treat this Bible as a supplementary tool. My approach starts with praying and getting guidance from The Lord. Then I dive into the scripture directly, engaging with it on my own without any commentary. Afterwards, I turn to this Bible to deepen my understanding with fresh perspectives. And for those who thrive on visual learning, The Good and Beautiful Bible Study has been a game-changer for me and so many others, it could potentially be the same for you. Packed with maps, diagrams, and illustrations, it makes the scriptures come alive, turning your reading experience into something truly dynamic and vibrant. In addition to this if you are confused on how to start taking notes, The SOAP Bible Study Method is perfect for beginners.

  4. Pens, Highlighters, and Washi Tape- This bundle comes with everything I believe can be needed as you read throughout the Bible. Highlighting key verses helps with memory, and understanding. These highlighters are smooth, designed not to bleed through pages, which is crucial for the thin pages of most Bibles. The pens are smooth, reliable, and available in lots of colors. Now these aren't erasable and might bleed through your Bible pages, so you'll want to test them before you use them in your Bible. Personally, I use them both in my Bible and in my journals. Washi tape adds flavor, this is a preference, but I don't think it hurts to give it a try.

  5. Bible Study Bookmarks- Bookmarks have helped me when I am feeling stuck, and not wanting to turn to technology. I have created a few bookmarks that go beyond a quote to help you reconnect, or get inspiration. Most of my bookmarks help you to dig deeper, grow an understanding of the context, and help you to connect the dots.

  6. Journals- I believe a journal is realistically needed regardless of what's going on in your life, but certainly a must have when growing your relationship with The Lord. Whether you prefer the classic feel of a blank journal, the convenience of a spiral notebook, or the structured guidance of a printable journal from our shop, having a dedicated space to jot down your thoughts and insights is key. Taking notes while you delve into scripture not only helps in retaining information but also allows you to reflect deeper on what you've read, draw connections, and track your spiritual journey over time.

  7. Study Plan  If you are serious about getting down to a Bible Study then you will want to decide (if you haven’t already) what to do. The post How To Choose a Bible Study will help.

  8. Time and place if you don’t plan a time, the likelihood is it will never happen. Make an appointment with yourself; write it in your Diary or on your planner. And ring-fence it! It’s non-negotiable! In addition, finding a place where you know you will not be disturbed is extremely important, that includes phones also.

  9. Prayer- I believe prayer is the most important thing we can do to grow closer to God. I think a lot of us fail to believe the answers we receive from those prayers because we don't want them to be true, but God knows what we NEED. So ask God to guide you throughout this entire journey. Ask Him, by His Holy Spirit, to direct you in your studies in the choice of what you do, what you write and in what you learn. And thank Him for all His provisions especially for the freedom to own your own Bible and to study it.

If you are struggling with the last two points, you may need to ask God to show you a place and a time. Ask Him to keep you from distractions and interruptions. As well as for help to make every moment of your time together precious.
